How To Get Your Site Indexed Quickly
OK, you’ve got your site up and running but you (and no one else) can find it in Google. Well, it hasn’t been indexed yet. Or in other words, Google (and other search engines) don’t know it’s there yet. You have to help the search engines along a bit.
Don’t bother submitting your site through the traditional methods. The fastest way to get a site to appear in Google’s index is to create backlinks to it. Use social bookmarking sites to create lots of easy win links from sites that are spidered regularly and submit any RSS feeds you’ve got to directories.
These sites include YouTube, Digg, Stumblr and literally thousands of others. The basic practice is take your site URL, or a new page or post URL and submit it to these sites. One or two is really all you need. Just setup an account, post your page and within a pretty short time your site or new page will be indexed.
If you’re really keen to get indexed as fast as humanly possible then try these extra steps. Each takes a few moments.
- Place Adsense on your site (even if you remove it later) as this forces Google to spider your site to place the most relevant ads.
- Setup an Adwords campaign to your domain (Google has to spider you to determine your quality score). You can also use Bing or Yahoo ad systems as well for extra exposure.
- Search for your domain name, that’s pretty simple isn’t it!
- Perform site: and link: searches on your domain. Use all three search engines for this.
- Visit your site using accounts with some of the most widespread ISPs (eg AOL) since their logs are used to find new content.
- Email links to your site to and from a Gmail account. Another incredibly easy process!
Now getting your site indexed is not the end of your work, however if Google does not even know you are there then you can hardly begin optimizing your site now can you. Take maybe five minutes and these few steps will get your new site, page of post on the way to top listings!
